AED have been appointed as the structural and civil consulting engineer for the reconstruction of the Category A listed Ross Fountain in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens West.

The Ross Fountain is a magnificent example of 19th century cast-iron work, from the foundry of Antoine Durenne in France. It was erected in the Gardens in 1872 and despite major renovation in 2001 has only functioned intermittently since. The new project will completely rebuild the fountain in its entirety, including providing substantial new foundations and modern water re-circulation equipment. Full cast ironwork renovation is to be carried out by specialists Lost Art in Wigan. The works will ensure successful operation of this much-loved Edinburgh landmark, into the future.

Groundworks are now complete and we are progressing to the reconstruction of the upstands, the pools and the plinth on which the cast iron fountain structure will be supported.
