Tim established Applied Engineering Design Limited as a sole practitioner in 2008, and has gone on to build the firm into one of the more respected small practices in Scotland in the intervening period.

Tim has twenty five years of experience in the construction industry, covering a wide range of engineering activities, both on site and in the design office. Initially practising as a civil engineer working on geotechnical and land remediation projects, Tim’s career emphasis has been on structures since 1997.

Project experience has included work in both the public and private sectors with a focus on signature architecture, modern & off-site timber construction, structural steel and a range of special projects such as mobile & temporary buildings and installation artwork. This is taken together with the more general everyday engineering that typically forms the workload of a small but expanding practice.

Tim’s reputation for properly considered design that fulfils the client’s brief without baffling the contractor, delivered on time, to budget and in a friendly manner, is reflected in the central ethos of AED.

Mike is a Chartered Structural engineer and a consultant at AED in our Glasgow office. Mike has over 45 years of experience in building design consultancy and spearheads the considered and holistic approach to building form and materiality which we have in the practice.
