AED have carried out design and detailing for a new spa complex in the Algarve for Armadilla/Jason Vale/Juicy Oasis.

The scheme consists of ten interlocking geodesic domes in steel and twenty large pod structures in timber/SIPS. The project is currently at building control stage in Portugal.

Our work involved reverse engineering Armadilla’s existing SIPS fabrication methodology in close association with Ross Hunter of Armadilla, and then re-purposing it to the demands of an earthquake engineering environment. A programme of laboratory testing of joints and sub-assemblies is scheduled for 2018.
